How to get to heaven?

There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus. Jesus made this very clear in his Word.

"Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."

John 14:6

I found a good link from pastor Chuck Smith for those who want to know about heaven.

The heavens declare His Glory

Psalm 19:1

"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands."

Random processes and chance over a billion years? I do not think so!

Here is additional information from Answers in Genesis on His Glory as revealed through Creation.

What is salvation?

“That is you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9

Most people think going to heaven is a complex process. You need to do good things, go to church, etc. This verse is very clear and simple. If we believe in our hearts and say it with our mouths that Christ is the risen Lord, we will be saved. Why do most people unfortunately refuse to believe? We get the answer in 2 Corinthians 4:4 -

“In whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they may not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

There is a spiritual battle for our souls. Satan, the god of this world, has blinded many people. T hose that die without Jesus will not go to heaven. So what can we do for those people? One of the answers is in 2 Corinthians 4:5.

“For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond servants for Jesus’ sake.”

This means the focus needs to be on Christ. When you witness to others tell them what Christ has done in your life. Do not talk about accomplishments and the like. Try introducing them to Christ!

Jesus feeds 5,000

Jesus performed many miracles during His time on earth. One tiny example is Jesus feeding more than 5,000 people. We actually have eyewitness testimony in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John corroborating this miracle.

Matthew 14:15-21

“When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, "This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves."

But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!"
They said to Him, "We have here only five loaves and two fish."

And He said, "Bring them here to Me."

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds,
and they all ate and were satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve full baskets.

There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children.”

In 2 Peter 1:16 he says, “For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”

Peter was an apostle who led a very different life after he witnessed Jesus after the resurrection.

I say this because prior to Jesus dying Peter had denied knowing Him to avoid persecution. Also when Jesus died the apostles were scared and scattered. They went back doing what they had been doing before they met Christ. They thought all was lost after Christ died without realizing He would rise from the dead in 3 days.

After Jesus was raised from the dead we see Peter and all the other apostles living very different and changed lives. The apostles had seen the risen Christ. Christ would go on to spend time with them after his resurrection. Most of the apostles would go on to die for their faith in Christ. What changed them? The risen Christ did!

Another Prophesy Fulfilled - The Messiah would die by crucifixion

The psalms were written 1,000 + years before Christ. This passage of scripture from Psalm 22 predicts that the Messiah would die by crucifixion well before it actually happened.

Psalm 22:14, 16-17

“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within me. For dogs have surrounded me; a band of evildoers has encompassed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me."

The fulfillment of this Psalm is found in the New Testament books of Matthew and Mark

Matthew 27:31

“After they mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.”

Mark 15:20; 25

“After they mocked Him, they took the purple robe off of Him and put His own garments on him. And they led Him away to crucify Him.”

“It was the third hour when they crucified Him.”

Many passages from the psalms predict in detail events from Christ’s life and death. The evidence is clear. God sent the Messiah, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for our transgressions.

Isaiah 53:5 tells us:

“But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities, the chastening for our well being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.”

Oh by the way - Isaiah 53 was written 400 plus years before Christ. What are the chances? If you would like to learn more about having a relationship with Jesus Christ click here.

Who saw Jesus when He rose from the dead?

The truth of Christianity rests primarily on the resurrection. If Jesus rose from the dead who saw Him? It is clear from the Bible Jesus appeared to the following after He died:

Mary Magdalene
The other women at the tomb
Peter in Jerusalem
The two travelers on the road
Ten disciples behind closed doors
All the disciples, with Thomas (excluding Judas Iscariot)
Seven disciples while fishing
Eleven disciples on the mountain
A crowd of 500
Jesus’ brother James
Those who watched Jesus ascend into heaven

Can we really believe these witnesses? Those who claimed to see the risen Christ were changed. Most of them turned the world upside down and many died for what they believed.

1 Corinthians 15:6

"After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep."
